HENGDA-M8173  is a bifunctional organosilane possessing a reactive amine and hydrolyzable inorganic methoxysilyl groups.

The dual nature of its reactivity allows HENGDA-M8173 to bind chemically to both inorganic materials (e.g. glass, metals fillers) and organic polymers (e.g. thermosets, thermoplastics and elastomers), thus functioning as an adhesion promoter and a surface modifier.

Applications:

1. It can improve the physical and electrical properties of mineral-filled phenolics, epoxies, polyamides, polybutylene terephthalate, and many other thermoset and thermoplastic composites. Filler wetting and dispersibility in the polymer matrix can also be improved.

2. In shell molding, this silane can strengthen the bond between the phenolic binder and foundry sand.

3. As a phenolic resin binder additive, the HENGDA-M8173 silane coupling agent can impart moisture resistance and allow recovery after compression.

4. HENGDA-M8173 is an excellent adhesion promoter to consider for use in many coating, adhesive, and sealant systems. With polysulfide, urethane, RTV silicones, epoxy, nitrile, and phenolic adhesives and sealants, the product can improve pigment dispersion and adhesion to glass, aluminum, steel, and various other substrates.


Reactivity

In the presence of water, the methoxy groups of HENGDA-M8173 hydrolyzes form reactive silanol groups which can bond to a variety of inorganic substrates. The organophilic amino group of HENGDA-M8173 can react with a suitable polymer. Hydrolysis of HENGDA-M8173 takes place autocatalytically.

Examples of suitable inorganic substrates are glass, glass fibers, glass wool, mineral wool, silicic acid, quartz, sand, cristobalite, wollastonite and mica as well as aluminum hydroxide, kaolin, talc, other silicate fillers, metal oxides and metals.

HENGDA-M8173 may be used with such polymers as epoxy, phenolic, furan and melamine resins, polyurethanes, PA, PBT, PC, EVA, modified PP, PVB, PVAC, PVC, acrylics and silicones.



Packaging, storage and shelf life
HENGDA-M8173 is supplied in 25 kg,200 kg drums and 1000kg IBC containers.
In the unopened container HENGDA-M8173 has a shelf life of min.12 months from delivery.
