What is
Roxithromycin
?
Roxithromycin, a western medicine, is a new generation of macrolide antibiotics, mainly acting on gram-positive bacteria, anaerobic bacteria, chlamydia and mycoplasma. Its antibacterial effect in vitro is similar to that of erythromycin, and its antibacterial effect in vivo is 1 to 4 times stronger than that of erythromycin. It is a semi-synthetic 14-membered macrolide drug. Its mechanism of action is the same as that of erythromycin. It mainly binds to the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by blocking transpeptidation and mRNA translocation, thereby playing an antibacterial effect. Its characteristic is that it can quickly enter macrophages, lung cells, alveoli, and polymorphonuclear leukocytes. It also has a certain effect on anaerobic bacteria such as Bacteroides oral, Bacteroides niger, Peptococcus, Peptostreptococcus, Propionibacterium acnes, and Toxoplasma encephalitis, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Treponema pallidum, etc.; Helicobacter, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, meningococcus, and Bacillus pertussis have weaker effects. Roxithromycin can inhibit most of the gram-positive bacteria, common pathogenic bacteria for respiratory and skin infections; it is effective for urogenital infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis and Ureaplasma urealyticum, and it is effective for Treponema pallidum.
