Product Description
Liraglutide is a clear, colorless solution. The dosage form is subcutaneous injection. Liraglutide has been developed for more than 10 years and has many effects such as promoting the regeneration of pancreatic islet cells, lowering blood sugar, reducing body weight and protecting the cardiovascular system, etc. The trade name Victoza is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and the trade name is used for the treatment of chronic obesity as a supplement to diet control and physical exercise. Liraglutide is an acylated human glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist with 97% amino acid sequence homology to human endogenous GLP-1 (7-37), which retains all the biological activity of GLP-1 and has a GLP-1 receptor agonistic effect. By expression of recombinant DNA in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the molecular structure differs from that of the natural GLP-1 molecule by only one amino acid, and the structure is modified only in two parts of GLP-1 as follows: namely, the substitution of lysine at position 34 by arginine, and the addition of a glutamate-mediated 16-carbon palmitoyl fatty acid side chain to lysine at position 26.

Function:
1.It acts in a glucose-dependent manner, meaning it will stimulate insuli secretion only when blood glucose levels are higher than normal, preventing ""overshoot"". Consequently, it shows negligible risk of hypoglycemia.
2.It has the potential for inhibiting apoptosis and stimulating regeneration of beta cells (seen in animal studies).
3.It decreases appetite and inhibits body weight gain, as shown in a head-to-head study versus glimepiride.
4.It lowers blood triglyceride levels.
Liraglutide has been approved as an injectable adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for
chronic weight management in adult patients. The specified criteria are an initial body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m2
or greater (obese), or 27 kg/m2 or greater (overweight), in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid
condition (e.g. hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, or dyslipidemia).
